Get Involved in creating this zine
There are a few positions open to help create the zine and make it as awesome as possible. If you have some free time this could be the perfect project. Please contact us to apply for any position.
STAFF
There are some roles that need to be filled. Please note all positions are voluntary.There may also be some crossover in roles as each position is ground down to its basic elements.
All positions would be suited to an individual having an interest in space and science fiction. A creative imaginative thinker who is able to work to deadlines and enjoy collaborating.
Permanent Staff Writer
You must be able to research relevant topics and create a clear idea of where your writing may go.Submission of ideas for stories, features and news.
Requires flexibility when responding to assignments and delivering work in a timely manner within the set word count.
Must have good literacy skills and be amenable to suggested changes and edits in work.
Web Content Writer
Must be able to use wordpress.Read through the zine, and collection of finished pieces for the current edition of the zine; create ‘teasers’ of the articles/stories/music within the next zine.
Story Proofreader
This role requires reading stories that are submitted, finding spelling and grammatical errors, checking for quality and consistency in style.You must have the ability to write notes, and the experience to say why some errors are pointed out (For example- the story is written in first person then, randomly, changes to third person).
Article Proofreader
This role requires reading articles, features that are submitted, finding spelling and grammatical errors, checking for quality and consistency in style.You must have the ability to write notes, and the experience to say why some errors are pointed out (For example- the article is written in third person, and the writer refers to themselves:- me, I, etc).
Copy Editor
This role requires proof-reading of the whole zine, making sure there are no spelling or grammatical errors. You will also be responsible for re-writing, adapting, shortening or lengthening writing submissions.You will also be expected to point out formatting/design errors, that make the content unreadable.
Fact Checker
Working through the whole zine, making sure all names, places, contact information (websites, emails, etc) are correct.Also the accuracy of facts mentioned in articles.
Image Source Checker
Check that the images used within the zine, have permission to be used, or are in the public domain with the correct attribution information.Verify that all images submitted are from the people that made them, or have permission to use them (not ‘stolen’ from sources on the internet/published) and flag up any suspicious submissions.
